When a sales rep comes across an interview, he might not have been the first to ask. But he might have had a better reason for wanting to know what he was talking about.
In the past few months, Pfizer, maker of Viagra, has been talking to its sales staff about the idea of selling the brand to consumers. As a former sales rep, he’s had a lot of questions and concerns about how the industry works and how it can be a “game-changer.”
“What do you do?” he asked. “You’re not trying to sell the drug. You’re just trying to sell what you’re selling, and that’s what you’re talking about.”
Pfizer, which is the maker of the brand, had some of the best discussions on the matter in the past few months.
The company’s stock market was up 11 percent in the first quarter of this year. And last month, the company posted a newchest of gains, with its share price up 5 percent. It was also up by 8 percent in the second quarter, though the market wasn’t that much better than the previous quarter.
Pfizer had the most in the market last month, which was the latest example of how the industry has been developing and improving the value of the brand, according to analysts.
“We’re in the early stages of the market, we’re in a very healthy environment, but we’re also experiencing some of the largest price increases over the last few years,” said David P. Gersbach, a spokesman for Pfizer. “It’s really exciting to be around the company.”
